THE £75 million St Martin's Quarter development which is set to transform Lowesmoor is quickly taking shape as work on the exterior of an ASDA superstore nears completion.
The store, which is due to open early next year, is the centrepiece of the Carillion Richardson development and will provide jobs for more than 350 people.
Taking up more than 125,000 square feet of floorspace, the store will feature the George clothing range and will be linked to a car park providing 500 spaces.
The newly named centre will include 284,050 sq ft of shops, restaurants and leisure outlets creating hundreds of jobs and a new shopping and leisure destination for the city. Work has also begun to redevelop the corner of Pheasant Street and St Martin's Gate. A new logo for the development, which combines the historic Worcester Black Pear with modern imagery and design, has been created.
Selwyn Rowley of Carillion Richardson said: "Visitors will notice the new logo and signage being displayed around St Martin’s Quarter by the autumn, helping them to identify with the new and exciting destination that will be a major feature of Worcester for years to come."
