Riots: Two arrested over attempt to incite riot

TWO people have been arrested for trying to incite a riot in Worcester through the use of the internet.
A police spokesman confirmed the arrests today (Wednesday) but could not reveal any further details.
Extra police patrols were on duty in Worcester and other towns across the West Mercia Police area last night following rioting in London and other cities including Manchester and Birmingham.
Although there were small outbreaks of disorder in the city no major incidents were reported in Worcester.
In Warndon police and firefighters were called to Cranham Drive at 1.09am where a car was on fire.
Police are investigating the incident. Meanwhile, the Chief Constable of West Mercia Police David Shaw has moved to reassure residents after speculation and rumour about riots and disturbances.
He said: "We have extra patrols on the streets of our main towns across West Mercia. I know that we can count on the support of the public and I would particularly ask young people to resist any temptation to be involved in any unlawful activities which would damage the communities in which they live, the livelihoods of people in this area and their own futures. Parents can help us by making sure they know where their children are."
