THE HEAD of a global charity which is spearheading attempts to end poverty in some of world’s poorest communities will be the guest speaker at a church in St Peter’s on Sunday (January 29).
Matthew Frost, the chief executive of Tearfund, will give a talk entitled Christianity: helping or hindering world development at St Peter’s Baptist Church. He will speaking at the church’s 9am and 10.30am services.
Tearfund is a Christian international aid and development agency, founded in 1968, which works across the world to end poverty and injustice, and restore dignity and hope to those in greatest need.
The charity operates in more than 50 countries around the world and its vision is to see 50 million people released from spiritual and material poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches.
It also currently campaigns on issues ranging from the provision of clean water, climate change, debt relief and fair trade.
