WORCESTER City are on the verge of signing former Kidderminster Harriers central defender Stuart Whitehead after AFC Telford United agreed to release him.
The experienced 35-year-old is close to agreeing terms with the Blue Square Bet North side ahead of the club's clash with Colwyn Bay at St George's Lane on Saturday.
The Bucks chairman Lee Carter said: "We are disappointed to lose his services, but the promise of a long term playing contract at Worcester was an opportunity he felt he could not pass up at this stage of his career, and it was a level of security we could not provide for him. He leaves with our thanks and very best wishes."
