HOOKER Ed Shervington has become the latest player to pledge his future to Worcester Warriors after signing a new deal to remain at the club.

The 26-year-old, who has made a total of 32 appearances over the last two seasons at the club, joins the likes of Shaun Perry and Jonny Arr who have also agreed new terms in recent weeks.

Forwards coach Phil Davies was delighted to see him put pen to paper as he believes Shervington has made vast improvements since arriving from Ospreys in 2010.

"Since joining us Ed has developed into a high quality Premiership starter," Davies said. “I’ve been impressed by his attitude and he does a lot of work on the physical aspect of the game and conditioning to make sure he is in the best possible shape. He also works tirelessly on his line-out throwing and contributes to the scrum, making him an invaluable set piece forward.

“The added advantage with Ed is that he is great around park, has great feet and carries the ball well. He has been a top signing and is only young so will get better and better.”

Shervington is a product of the Ospreys development system and has been capped for Wales at u18, u19 and u21 level.

Shervington said: “I’ve had a really good few seasons at Sixways and I’m excited to extend that.

“The reason for signing is simple, because I think the Warriors have a big future.

“Everybody talks about the facilities and set-up here, but the rugby is moving forward too and hopefully with the players we will sign and retain we will only get stronger. There is a big future for the club and I want to be going places with Worcester.

“There was interest from other clubs but I am settled in the area with my girlfriend Stacey. We love the city, the fans and Worcester is where I want to be. It is the best place I can be."
