THE CRITICALLY acclaimed Welsh road movie Patagonia (15) which features an acting debut from songstress Duffy will be screened at the Splendid Cinema this Sunday (Jan 29).
Patagonia tells two interweaving stories as a Welsh photographer and his girlfriend travel to Patagonia on assignment to photograph Welsh churches in Argentina, while an elderly Argentinean woman sneaks off to Wales with her grandson to try and find the farm on which she was conceived.
Directed by Marc Evans, this warm, funny and at times moving film stars Matthew Rhys and Nia Jones and was produced by S4C, the Welsh language television channel.
Chart-topping singer Duffy also catches the eye making her film debut with an understated performance. Evans' movie, which is filmed in both Welsh and Spanish, was so well received by the critics it became the UK's entry into the Best Foreign Language Film category at this year's Oscar nominations.
It is being screened at the Splendid Cinema, the city's champion of independent cinema, at 7.30pm in the Worcester Arts Workshop with the Box Office open from 7pm. Tickets are £5 on the door with Café Bliss open for a pre-show treat.
