Title chasing Wolves face Sharks test

WORCESTER Wolves will return to BBL Championship action tomorrow night (Saturday) seeking revenge over the Sheffield Sharks.

Title chasing Wolves will be hoping to close the current six-point gap on leaders Newcastle Eagles as the BBL Championship season approaches its climax.

Paul James’ side will be targeting their first win over Sheffield this season at the University of Worcester (tip-off 7pm) after their two previous meetings with the Sharks saw them suffer agonising single-point defeats.

Wolves go into the game in top form after winning six league games on the bounce and need one more victory to reach their highest number of points gained in a single BBL campaign.

One more win will also secure Wolves a top four finish - an achievement head coach Paul James has been targeting since his side’s strong start to the season.

The Sharks go into the game in sixth place knowing another victory will help secure them a BBL play-off place.

Ahead of the big game, James said he wanted his team to learn from their previous mistakes against the Sharks.

“The Sharks have beaten us twice this season and those losses have come back to haunt us with our push for the league championship,” he said.

“I feel that in our previous meetings we did not have the smartest of games and made a rod for our own backs. Hopefully we have learnt lessons from those games and we will be fully focused on the job in hand.”

On Sunday Wolves travel north to face the Cheshire Jets in another important league encounter.
