A LITERARY feast of poetry, readings, talks and story writing workshops will give people another chance to enjoy a glimpse inside the city's landmark £60million history and library centre this weekend.
Literally In A Day At The Hive is taking place on Saturday afternoon and is the latest preview event for the public to explore the gold cladded four storey building ahead of its official opening in July.
The day has been organised by the Worcestershire Literary Festival with the support of the county council and will feature a huge array of free spoken word performances from 12pm to 7pm.
Among the highlights will be performances by Theo Theobald, Worcestershire’s first ever Poet Laureate, a talk by David Morrison about the history of Worcester Cathedral Library, a showcase performance by young poets, readings by members of the Worcester and Malvern Writers’ Circles and children’s storytelling sessions.
There will also be other activities for youngsters including storybook creation, balloons, magic tricks and a family friendly poetry workshop, as well as ad hoc readings and performances in the main atrium of The Hive.
Organisations including the Worcester Writers’ Circle, Discover History and the Worcester Tourism Association will also be staging displays.
Lisa Ventura, director of the Worcestershire Literary Festival said: “Literally In A Day will be a chance for the whole community to come together and embrace literature, poetry and spoken word at this exciting second preview event at The Hive, which we hope will become the festival’s focal point when it is open later this year."
County arts officer Steve Wilson, from Worcestershire County Council, said: “We are delighted to have the Literary Festival at The Hive on what I am sure will be another wonderful day for Worcestershire. These pre-opening events are showcasing what an iconic, exciting venue The Hive is for the county".
