A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after a woman was sexually assaulted in Worcester.
The assault happened in an alleyway to the side of the chip shop on Rainbow Hill after the victim shared a taxi to the area with a man she had met outside Mode nightclub a short while earlier in the early hours of Sunday, April 1.
Detective Sergeant James Bayliss from Worcester CID said: "I can confirm that a man in his 20s voluntarily attended Castle Street police station today (Thursday).
"He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and has been helping officers this afternoon with their investigation into the incident on Rainbow Hill."
The man has since been released on police bail until June 13, pending further inquiries.
"I would like to thank the public for their response to the previous witness appeal issued in connection with this case. I would further like to reassure people that we take all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and do all we can to support victims of such crimes."
