A MAN tore a teenage girl's dress as he attempted to sexually assault her in Warndon Woods.
The 13-year old was attacked by a scruffy, unkempt looking man at 5.30pm on Sunday, April 15.
She had been playing with a group of children on the edge of the woods between Barass Avenue and Trotshill Way but after hurting her ankle she became separated from her friends.
She then noticed a man walking towards her and although she tried to escape along a path he cut through some bushes and grabbed her dress, which he ripped, and the top of her leg.
The girl managed to escape and ran away through the woods before losing sight of him.
The attacker is described as white, chubby and had thick, black, wavy hair that was swept back and with a quiff. He also had stubble on the underside of his jaw.
He was wearing a black knitted jumper, brown cord trousers, black shoes, and was described as being dirty and unkempt as if he was living rough.
PC Lou Forbes from Worcester Police Station said: "We made sure the girl involved in this incident was fully interviewed by specially trained officers and despite being distressed by what happened, she has given us a lot of detailed information that we are now following up.
"We are trying to trace some people who were in the area of Warndon Woods that may have seen either the victim or the offender and may have some vital information.
"She described a teenage boy walking a brown Labrador in the woods and a man walking a dachshund - do you know someone who walks their dog in Warndon Woods early on a Sunday evening?
"There were also a mum and dad with young children in the area and we would like to speak to these parents or anyone else who was in Warndon Woods on Sunday 15 April between 5pm and 6pm."
PC Forbes can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
