NINETIES chart-topping Indie band The Wonder Stuff will provide a blast from the past when they perform live in a city record store tomorrow (Saturday).

Rise Records, in CrownGate Shopping Centre, will be hosting a performance from the band who shot to stardom with their 1991 number one single Dizzy, in collaboration with comedian Vic Reeves, as well as Size of a Cow which also gave them a top five hit. Their performance at 2.15pm will be the highlight of a jam-packed day of live music and giveaways organised by store staff to mark this year’s Record Store Day.

An eclectic mix of regional live bands and artists will be keeping shoppers entertained outside Huntingdon Hall in CrownGate from 12pm to 5pm, including Poetry in Numbers, Our Mutual Friend, The May Dolls, The OneTwos and Lewis Spelt Backwards.

The store will be open from 8am and staff will be offering customers freshly baked cupcakes as well as limited numbers of their very own mix CDs throughout the day.

“We’re delighted to have secured such a fantastic line-up of some of the region’s most talented bands and performers, and to have The Wonder Stuff playing live in store will be amazing - a fitting way to mark international Record Store Day in style,” said Rise Records’ Kevin Rant.
