A GROUP of blind and partially sighted students from a Worcester college braved a chilly night to experience what life is like for people sleeping on the city's streets.

New College Worcester students managed to raise more than £250 for homeless charity St Paul's Hostel following their efforts on Friday (April 20) night.

With some help from staff, the students assembled their cardboard boxes into shelters and taped them up before putting a sleeping bag inside where they slept.

Sixth form student Krishen Chauhan said: "I feel that the sleep out was a big success. I’m really pleased that nobody gave up and sneaked off back to their warm bed.

" I felt I gained some experience of what it’s like to sleep rough and I’m pleased that we could raise money knowing that this will help St Paul’s support the homeless in Worcester.”
