A BODY found in the River Severn is believed to be a pensioner whose car was found abandoned in Worcester on Easter Monday.
Police recovered the body from Upton-upon-Severn, ten miles away from where the original search for Robert Allen was concentrated, after a call from a member of the public at 2.25pm on Sunday (April 29).
Mr Allen went missing from his home in Ash Tree Road, Batchley, Redditch on Sunday, April 8.
The 80-year-old's black Kia Picanto was driven into Worcester the next day and was found by officers in Grandstand Road.
Det Con Jon Newton of South Worcestershire CID said: "The body was recovered by officers and we are currently going through the process of identifying who it is.
"We believe it is likely to be Mr Allen, but further tests need to be undertaken before that can be confirmed."
