ENVIRONMENT Agency officials are continuing to closely monitor the level of the River Severn in Worcester after yet more heavy rainfall today (Tuesday).
A spokesman for the EA said the river would continue to rise today but was expected to peak in the early hours of tomorrow morning (Wednesday).
The flood waters have started to spread onto Worcester Racecourse and parts of Worcestershire County Cricket Club's New Road ground.
Brian Hulme, co-owner of the recently reopened Browns Wine Bar which is situated on the riverside, said they were still welcoming diners despite the flooding of the South Quay.
"It's business as usual. The floods are all over the quayside and fountains but the back road to Browns where our main entrance is is absolutely fine. We are welcoming guests as usual," he said.
Paul Michaelwaite, from netweather.tv which is based in Pershore, said more than 50mm of rain had fallen in the past week, which is more than the entire average rainfall for April.
He said the weather would continue to remain unsettled and cool but there were signs of warmer and more settled weather arriving in mid-May.
