Victory vital for Wolves to keep title hopes alive

WORCESTER Wolves head coach Paul James has challenged his team to win all their remaining league games to help give them a fighting chance of being crowned champions.

Wolves travel to leaders Newcastle Eagles tonight (Friday) knowing a defeat would end their hopes of winning their first ever BBL Championship crown.

But victory would throw the title race wide open and see Wolves gain a vital head-to-head advantage over the Eagles, should the two sides finish level on points in the final standings.

James admitted it would be a tall order to win the title after last weekend’s heavy defeat at Leicester.

“I don’t know if we can catch them but I know we have to try and win the remainder of our games to stand a chance including our game on Friday for the head-to-head advantage,” he said.

“I know Newcastle are a team who know how to win. They are well coached and you know you have to match their intensity on all levels otherwise it is a long night. We have to execute our sets well and play some very tough defence.”

Wolves are in action again on Saturday at the University of Worcester when they face Guildford Heat (tip-off 7pm) who are still fighting to secure a spot in the BBL play-offs.
