ONE OF Worcester Warriors' star players has been arrested following an alleged late night assault in which a woman's nose was broken.
Jake Abbott, 24, was arrested after police were called to an altercation between two women in a taxi rank queue on The Cross at about 4am on Sunday (May 27) morning.
A police spokesman confirmed the scuffle resulted in one of the women being punched in the face and her nose broken. She was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Home-grown talent Abbott, who last week signed a new deal to extend his stay at Warriors, was questioned by police before later being released on bail while officers continue their investigation.
The police spokesman added: "Officers attended the incident and a man in his 20s was arrested for assault, questioned and released later on Sunday pending further enquiries."
A spokesman for Warriors said the club had met with the player in relation to an alleged incident in the city centre on Sunday morning.
“The player has co-operated fully with police enquiries and the club remains supportive of him," he added.
“The club will make no further comment until the conclusion of this matter.”
