Pair charged after drugs are seized

A MAN and a woman have been charged and remanded in custody after a large haul of illegal drugs was seized by police on the motorway in Worcestershire.

An Audi travelling south on the M5 at about 11pm on Friday evening (June 8) was stopped by police near Junction 8 and 2kg of amphetamines were recovered from the vehicle by officers.

A man and a woman were arrested and charged on Saturday with drugs offences.

Michael Vella, aged 46, from Highfield in Callow End was charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

Kerry Hopewell, aged 41, and also of Highfield, Callow End, was charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B.

Both appeared in Worcester Magistrates' Court on Monday (June 11) morning and were remanded in custody to reappear at the same court on June 25.
