Police release CCTV image after racist incident

POLICE have released this CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to after a shopper was racially abused in a Worcester supermarket.

A man of Chinese descent was shopping at Tesco in Warndon Villages with his baby daughter when he was subjected to racist comments from a man who passed him in the store.

The victim then bumped into the same man at the checkout ten minutes later where he repeated the racist remarks.

Police would like to speak to the man in the CCTV image in connection with the incident which happened at 3.55pm on October 21.

PC Matthew Harris said: "Being targeted in this way while he was simply doing his shopping at the local supermarket has upset the victim.

"He and I both feel that the comments made were unprovoked and offensive, and I would like to trace the man responsible. We are treating this as a racially aggravated public order offence."

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image can contact PC Harris by dialling 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
