THESE pictures offer a first glimpse inside the new £8million sport and leisure club which is set to open in Worcester next weekend.
The Standard was given a tour around the David Lloyd Leisure Club as the finishing touches were being made to the state-of-the-art centre next to Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium.
Olympic gold and silver medallist Zac Purchase will officially unveil it on Wednesday, December 5, but the complex will be open to members from Saturday, December 1.
It features a vast array of fitness and sports equipment for the whole family including three indoor and five outdoor tennis courts along with a children’s programme and a team of Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) qualified coaches.
Another of its features is the 900 square metre gym, which will house the latest fitness equipment, including a large range of assisted resistance and cardiovascular machines.
A full programme of exercise classes will cater for a broad range of abilities in the centre’s three studios, where people can take part in sessions ranging from Yoga to Zumba.
For people who enjoy taking a swim, the development has both a 25m indoor and 20m outdoor pool, as well as a sauna and steam room. Those willing to pay extra and become a vantage member will be able to gain access to the Celsius Spa which includes a spa pool and heated beds.
The complex also has a café, featuring an outdoor terraced area, where members can enjoy a healthy meal.
Wayne Isaac, general manager at David Lloyd Worcester, told the Standard more than 1,500 people had already signed up as members and he was looking forward to the opening.
“We are incredibly excited about becoming part of the Worcester community and have already developed some strong relationships, particularly with the Worcester Warriors rugby team,” he said.
“The club looks stunning and I cannot wait for all of our members to experience the excellent facilities and services.”
