Hi: 9° Lo:2° 7 day

THE FLOOD barrier on Hylton Road is being put up this evening (Sunday) as river levels continue to rise in the city.
Heavy overnight rain has caused flooding in many parts of the county including Worcester where Worcester Racecourse, the South Quay and Worcestershire County Cricket Club's New Road ground are already under water.
Environment Agency staff will begin putting up the flood barrier on Hylton Road this evening with levels on the River Severn not expected to peak until tomorrow (Monday) afternoon and more rain forecast.
It means Hylton Road will be closed until further notice with diversions in place via Henwick Road.
Here's the latest list of roads in and around Worcester which are closed due to flooding (as of 5.15pm on Sunday):
Hylton Road, due to flood barrier - diversion via Henwick Road
B4211 Callow End to Upton on Severn (Hanley Road)
B4204 Martley Road, Worcester to Broadheath
A38 Kempsey at Taylors Lane
Green Lane, Oddingley
A449 at Claines Roundabout
The A44 Knightwick to Crown East is now passable with care and has been reopened. Many other roads have standing water and motorists are being urged to drive with extreme care.
