Worcestershire face tough start to new campaign

Tuesday 27 November 2012 Updated: 29/11 16:32

WORCESTERSHIRE face a tough start to the new season as they look to secure promotion and an immediate return to Division One of the LV= County Championship.

Steve Rhodes' side kick off their Division Two campaign on April 10 with a difficult-looking trip to Lancashire who were relegated from the top flight along with Worcestershire last season.

And the Pears will have to wait until Wednesday, May 8 and their four day clash against Leicestershire to make their first appearance at New Road while the redevelopment of the County's headquarters continues.

The excitement and explosive hitting of the Friends Life t20 competition will return to New Road on Friday, June 28 with the visit of Glamorgan before Ashes fever grips the county in July.

Australia arrive at New Road for a four-day warm up game on Wednesday, July 2 ahead of the first Ashes Test.
