ROTARIANS have been delivering a little bit of festive joy to some of the most vulnerable people across the city.

More than 800 food parcels packed with Christmas goodies including mince pies and chocolate as well as tea and tins of food have been handed out by members of Worcester's five Rotary Clubs.

Collections for money and food were held at various locations including supermarkets while homes across parts of the city were also invited to fill up bags full of items to help the annual appeal.

A number of schools also got involved by collecting hundreds of Christmas puddings.

The donations were then sorted through at Worcester Warriors' Sixways Stadium before Rotarians headed out this week to deliver parcels to needy households as well as making bulk drops at St Paul's Hostel, children's centres and other agencies supporting the vulnerable.

This year's appeal has been spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Worcester Vigornia and Rotarian Stephen Hodgson.

His wife and fellow Rotarian Lucy Hodgson said: "The response from the public has been wonderful yet again - people are so keen to support it. It really does help some very needy people."
