A MURDER investigation has been launched after a man was brutally stabbed in Worcester on Wednesday evening (January 2).
Adrian Locke was discovered outside a house on Teme Road in Tolladine at about 7.20pm by neighbours who called the emergency services.
The 39-year-old was treated by a doctor for a number of stab wounds but was confirmed dead at the scene a short time later.
Mr Locke, of no fixed abode, is understood to have been staying at a friend's house in Teme Road and was found outside a neighbouring property.
Teme Road was cordoned off from the corner of Avon Road to Dee Way today (Thursday) as officers and forensic teams carried out an investigation.
Chief Inspector Paul Kinsella said officers were keen to speak to anyone who knew Mr Locke and saw him on Wednesday, especially between 5pm and 7.20pm.
“We have been told that Adrian was staying with a friend in Teme Road and he was found by paramedics outside a neighbouring property after they were called by members of the public," he said.
“We need to trace anyone who was at the scene, particularly before the emergency services arrived."
"We are especially keen to hear from anyone who saw someone or some people make off from the scene, whether that was on foot, by bike or in a vehicle."
A local resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “It was real shock. I was at work last night when I got told about it.
“I think it's disgusting. How could somebody do this? I just don't know. Ade was a good person. He had his moments like everyone else, but he was a good man."
His death sparked a number of tributes on the Facebook group 'The Only Way is Tolladine' with many of those leaving comments offering their sympathies to Mr Locke's family.
One tribute read: "A lovely family which didn't deserve this and a person who didn't deserve what happened last night. RIP Ade gonna miss you, you are in a better, safer place now x".
Another read: "Let's hope that someone has the decency to come forward with details that help his family and friends get justice. Thoughts are with the family and close ones, may they seek comfort in the many happy memories that will help them through this tragic time."
A post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death is set to take place this afternoon.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
