LITERARY lovers can show their support for the county's annual celebration of the spoken and written word by becoming a Friend of Worcestershire Literary Festival.

The Friends of Lit Fest is being launched next week and gives people the chance to enjoy special privileges in exchange for their support of the summer festival.

By signing up people will receive a membership card, complimentary tickets to selected festival events as well as early notifications of what's on and tickets to the annual Friends' Forum.

It will give people the chance to meet other friends and members of the festival as well as some of Worcestershire's best writers.

Lisa Ventura, director and founder of the festival, said all the proceeds raised from the scheme would be ploughed into staging even more activities at next year's event.

"Becoming a friend of the Worcestershire Literary Festival is a great way to support us and the events we organise, not just during the festival in June but throughout the year. Friend of Lit Fest makes a lovely present for anyone who loves writing and reading."

Annual membership costs £15 and to join complete the Friendship Form which can be found online at www.worcslitfest.com

The official launch event takes place next Thursday (January 3) at the Little Venice. People who quote 'The Worcester Standard' on their application form will get a special mention at the launch.
