Murder victim - Adrian Locke. (s)

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives investigating the death of Adrian Locke.

We previously reported how Mr Locke was found with stab wounds outside a property on Teme Road on Wednesday (January 2) close to a property where he had been staying with a friend.

And despite the best efforts of paramedics the 39-year-old from Wych Road in Droitwich later died at the scene.

A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder in Birmingham in the early hours of this morning (Friday) and is currently in custody at Worcester Police Station.

A post mortem examination took place yesterday which confirmed that the cause of death was a stab wound to the torso.

A knife has been recovered from number 42a and is undergoing forensic examinations. Further searches are being conducted today at the maisonette.

Chief Inspector Paul Kinsella said: "This is a fast-moving investigation and while our officers have made a lot of progress in a short time, we are still only in the very early stages of the inquiry.

"Although we have a man in custody, we are looking into whether more than one person was involved in the attack on Adrian Locke. I want to repeat our appeals for anyone with information to come forward.

"We are particularly interested in Adrian's whereabouts between 5pm and 7.20pm.

"We need to trace anyone who was at the scene when he was found, particularly before the emergency services arrived. We are especially keen to hear from anyone who saw someone or some people make off from the scene, whether that was on foot, by bike or in a vehicle.

"We want to hear from anyone who visited no. 42a or knew who was there that day. If you were in the Teme Road area last night and saw or heard any suspicious activity or any kind, please call us."

An incident room has been set up at Worcester Police Station and anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting the incident reference 514s 02/01/13.

Details may also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
