A RETIRED Worcestershire police officer geared up for an epic challenge and raised more than £8,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Adrian Todd took to the saddle with his brothers Mike and Steve and nephew Chris Todd to cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End in August.

The 800-plus mile challenge began in the extreme north of Scotland and finished at the southern most point of the UK and saw the foursome raise £8,051 for the Bath Road hospice.

Their efforts were made all the more special as Adrian, Mike and Steve’s parents John and Dorothy Todd have raised money for the charity themselves for more than two decades.

Acorns’ fund-raising manager Carole Crowe, said: “This was a wonderful donation. The Todd family’s faithful support is brilliant as it costs £750 a day, per child to care for Acorns children, mostly raised from such generous members of the community.”
