WARRIORS wing Nikki Walker has been handed the chance to stake his claim for a starting jersey against Italy on Saturday after being added to the Scotland training squad.

The 30-year-old, whose last senior cap came in the 2011 EMC Tests, is one of eight players to be promoted from the Scotland A squad ahead of the RBS Six Nations clash following their 13-9 win over England Saxons at Newcastle on Friday.

Walker, who has made 13 appearances for Warriors since making the move from Ospreys in the summer, is joined in the Scotland side by props Jon Welsh and Alasdair Dickinson, hooker Steve Lawrie, back-rower Richie Vernon, scrum-half Sean Kennedy, stand-off Tom Heathcote and wing Duncan Taylor.
