COSTUME-CLAD supermarket staff hit the right note with young unpaid carers as they rocked around the clock to mark the launch of a year of fund-raising for the Carers Trust.
Colleagues at The Co-operative in St John's have chosen the Trust as their charity of the year to benefit from the fund-raising efforts of staff, members and customers over the next 12 months.
The money will go towards helping the charity provide desperately needed breaks, information, advice and support for 14 to 25 year-olds facing the challenges of caring.
Staff chose a Rock Around the Clock theme to mark the launch in acknowledgement of the 24/7 nature of the challenges facing an estimated 500,000 young people, across the UK, who care for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or, have mental health or addiction problems.
Store manager Richard Brixey said: “We’re delighted that Carers Trust is our Charity of the Year and, that we have the chance to make a difference to the lives of young people in our communities who undertake practical and emotional caring responsibilities for a family member or friend who cannot cope without their support.”
