A POPULAR vintage clothing shop which was targeted by burglars in the run-up to Christmas has bounced back strongly and launched a new service for its customers.

An iPad and cash were stolen from Second Hand Rose in The Hopmarket after a break-in in December which prompted owner Clare Bridge to rearrange the shop and have CCTV fitted.

The entrepreneur has also launched a brand new private shopping appointment service which allows customers to have the store to themselves and receive one to one guidance from Miss Bridge or colleague Jo Waterhouse.

"The New Year has started really well," said Miss Bridge.

"We've put all of that behind us and have tried to turn over a new leaf since the break-in. Some customers are looking for specific era outfits or want more information about how to incorporate vintage into their wardrobe, others might have a particular occasion in mind, so private appointments will allow us to dedicate our full attention to individual customers."

Private appointments cost £15 per person which includes refreshments and can be redeemed against any purchases made during the appointment.
