A SMALL team of volunteers armed with litter pickers left a part of Worcester looking spick and span.

Councillor Neil Laurenson and Worcester Green Party colleague Matthew Jenkins joined forces with Perdiswell Community Church to organise a tidy-up of Wordsworth Avenue, Bilford Road and the children's park area in Perdiswell.

The team of four braved the cold and wet as they collected three bags of general rubbish as well as two others filled with bottles and cans which they dropped off for recycling at the Bilford Road tip.

Coun Laurenson said with enough support the clean-ups could become a regular event.

"It was very productive but the litter really does accumulate particularly by the children's park and canal. I would be happy to do a regular litter pick if enough people want to do one."

Anyone interested in taking part in a litter pick can contact Coun Laurenson on 07805 871 163.
