ELDERLY residents had a flippin' good time on Shrove Tuesday as children from a local school competed in a pancake decorating competition at their care home in St John's.

Regent Care Home welcomed youngsters from St Clement's CE Primary School who showed off their creative side by using liquorice laces, Smarties and other sweet treats to decorate residents' pancakes with smiling faces.

The children’s entries were then judged with the first, second and third place winners receiving toy shop gift vouchers.

Activities leader Bridie Gray said: “Children from the school are regular visitors to our home and our residents love spending time with them. Our residents were beaming from ear to ear and there was lots of laughter and smiles as they saw the creations the children had made.”
