Why visit France?

If you’re wondering where to visit in 2013 but can’t seem to decide upon the right place, then look no further, as we’ve found a spot that’s perfect for you; a country with such an exquisite culture and stunning landmarks that you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of it sooner...  France! But why I hear you ask? Well, why not? France is full of surprises; it’s a holiday you simply can’t refuse! Take Paris for example. This city is not only admired for its incredible elegance and diversity, but it also provides so many sightseeing opportunities that one trip here will never seem enough.  But before you take that get looking at all the Dover to Calais ferry deals and book your ferry to France, here are a few tasters to prove why this part of Europe has that certain ‘je nais se quoi.’

The culture

France exudes effortless style and charm, especially the capital; famous for its cosmopolitan feel. Thanks to the abundance of tourist interests, this city is continually buzzing with excitement and curiosity, as visitors explore the cultural delights which have made Paris legendary.  Its dedication to art is one aspect which attracts many, particularly the Louvre, which sees millions of travellers through its doors each year. Here you can find such great works as the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and the Liberty Leading of the People. However, if exhibitions aren’t your thing then not to worry; you’ll soon realise that there are endless ways for you to discover more about the French lifestyle.

The food

It’s fair to say that French cuisine can seem unconventional. With frog’s legs, pigeon and snails on the menu, it’s easy to see why visitors may consider the palate of les Français to be a little adventurous. But you can’t knock it till you’ve tried it. France is loved for its rich and delicious food; a far cry from Friday night’s fish and chips! Popular dishes which never fail to impress have to be beef bourguignon, which consists of beef cooked in Burgundy red wine with garlic, onions and mushrooms, and coq au vin, which is a chicken dish again cooked with wine, mushrooms and lardons. However if you have more of a sweet tooth, then you have to try a crêpe Suzette, a French desert which provides the perfect amount of sugar and zest to get those taste buds tingling.

Must see spots

It’s without doubt that France has a stunning array of sights for you to see.  Obviously Paris holds the traditional tourist spots with the likes of the Eiffel Tower, the Sacre Coeur and the Arc de Triomphe, but aside from the capital, France has so much more to offer. Enjoy a bit of history? Then Brittany could be the place for you. Rochefort-en-Terre in particular is loved for its 17th century architecture and beautiful scenery. Or perhaps you’re looking for a little luxury and relaxation? If so, then the Côte d’Azur maybe more your style. Gorgeous beaches and celebrity glamour, what could go wrong?
